Solution blueprint / Oakline Manufacturing

Move the model. Keep the traceability.

Anaplan to Pigment migration blueprint: map the logic, redesign deliberately and reconcile every total before cutover.

Design concept, not a client case study. The company and scenario are fictional. The sections below describe a proposed model and its intended validation criteria.

How Anaplan concepts map to Pigment.

Choose an Anaplan object to see where it lands in Pigment and what usually changes on the way.

A simplified guide. Each migration is mapped object by object.

01 / Planning challenge

Anaplan → Pigment migration

The fictional example is an industrial planning model with 38 Anaplan modules to assess. The objective is to retain the planning intent while identifying redundant logic and platform-specific workarounds. This is an illustrative migration approach, not a claim of a delivered client migration.

02 / Proposed design

Make the logic explicit.

  1. Inventory modules, lists, line items, views, integrations and access requirements.
  2. Classify each component as retain, redesign or retire, with an owner and rationale.
  3. Map business concepts to Pigment dimensions, metrics and boards; do not assume every source object has a one-to-one equivalent.
  4. Agree a parallel-run period, reconciliation tolerances, training and a cutover decision process.
03 / Planning workspace

What planners would work with.

Mapping register

Record source logic, target design, dependencies and ownership.

Reconciliation pack

Compare agreed totals by version, entity and period; investigate differences.

Access & integrations

Rebuild permissions and data flows against the target operating model.

Cutover preparation

Rehearse data loads, freeze arrangements, training and rollback responsibilities.

04 / Validation criteria

Define what “correct” means.

  • Trace material target calculations back to an agreed source or approved redesign.
  • Reconcile key outputs at the agreed level of detail and tolerance.
  • Test permissions and source-to-target data completeness.
  • Resolve or explicitly accept open differences before cutover approval.

These are acceptance criteria for the proposed design, not reported results from an implemented client model.

How is migration reconciliation handled?

Agree source extracts, period boundaries, mapping rules and control totals first. Compare actuals and the baseline plan by period and relevant business dimensions. Log and explain differences, rerun checks after changes, and agree acceptance before cutover. A matched grand total alone is not sufficient.

05 / Engagement scope

Turn the blueprint into your plan.

A proposed deliverable set: mapping and decision registers, target design, reconciliation evidence, training materials and a cutover checklist.
